How I imagined my first day at this ad agency and how it went down couldn’t have been more different and yet, in the midst of all of it I got to witness something pretty incredible. Ever seen one of those “Avengers” movies? It was kind of like that. Digital bad asses uniting to prevent these evil d-bags from ruining all our lives. Not today Satan. Like any team faced with a daunting task they rolled up their sleeves, and did what God put them on this green earth to do, Digital Marketing.
Rob, our calm and collected Creative Director, was the voice of reason and banged out a ton of copy that was nothing less than super. Kelsie, the fiercest Art Director in the history of Art Directors, never once had to use her “This is not a work of Art” stamp. And Jake, our handsome, big, blue eyed Brand Creative Director, killed the Basecamp game like some kind of white Michael Jordan. Swoon.
It’s a sigh of relief knowing the people I grind it out with everyday at Rock Candy Media know what the hell they’re doing, but even more so knowing they actually give a damn. I’m honored to be apart of it. You can’t teach that. You either got the juice or you don’t. Don’t believe me? Ask Annie. Better yet, she’ll tell you, whiteboard it, and then tell you again so you remember. The woman has more talent in her pinky toe than most advertising agencies in Austin do altogether. She’s a rare breed who truly cares about every client/person that comes through our doors and expects the same in return. Talent will only get you so far in life before people who work hard start closing the gap. You can have all the talent in the world but if you don’t have a team that makes shit happen it’s as useless as tits on a bull.
At most offices it’s a few people doing all the work and everyone else walking around eating salads but not here. Everyone that works at RCM is here because they are the best at what they do. Period. There’s no room for anything less. They all belong here in some way, shape, or form and I couldn’t be more humbled to work with these people everyday.
