Brand. We need to talk.
Look, we both thought it was great when I ordered something from your site. I got stuff, I loved it, you got my money and you loved that. I knew what was going on when I entered my email address. You wanted me to buy again, and I was okay with that. I saw the cute way you slipped that little ‘Uncheck if you DON’T want to hear from me’ box in there. I liked you, so I went ahead and left it checked. I wanted to know more.
I got my stuff in the mail, toyed with the idea of giving you the feedback you wanted. It wasn’t a bad start.
But then you got…let’s be real, you got a little weird.
I was happy that you shared your sale with me. Well. I was happy at first. But you reminded me again the next day. And then the next. And the day after that. You sent me a message every day. And when you extended the sale, I had to know about that too. EVERY. DAY.
I love that you’re so open, Brand, but we JUST started getting to know each other. This was my first purchase from you. I don’t even have an account with your site! Look, you…you’re just coming on a little strong. And I’m not ready for that kind of commitment. It’s not that I don’t enjoy your products, it’s just that I feel the move is a bit premature. It’s a LOT premature, actually. I follow brands that TWEET less than you’ve emailed me.
There’s no easy way to say this…I have to unsubscribe.
I mean, we’ll still SEE each other. I might purchase something every once in a while. But frankly, I think you need to work on yourself a bit more before you’re Lovemark material. Starting with how smothering you can get. Customers like a little bit of space, ya know?
Look, I’ll see you around Brand- I know how to get in contact. For now though, let’s just keep it loose.
