Virtual reality’s promise is limitless, but its implementation so far has been uninspiring. Geomedia created a system that enables immersive VR experiences using current technology. Our challenge: How do you name something that has limitless possibilities?

The Process

The as-of-yet unnamed product had a footprint the shape of Geomedia’s hexagonal logo. Once inside the machine, with a virtual reality headset strapped in, the user is transported to wherever the simulation may take them. After some highly metaphysical brainstorming (it’s a return to the womb completely supplanting known reality with near limitless possibilities!) we landed on HIVE, the perfect name for a honeycomb-shaped, mind-bending contraption. We then designed the logo and gave it an identity that the client could bring to market.
